Yes, the registration form includes permission to treat your child, and must be completed for every visit. For your convenience, we have a short registration form for children who have visited Acute Kids in the past. The form may be completed at the clinic, or if you prefer, may be printed and completed at home and brought to the clinic. For a copy of the form, please visit the register page.

Unlike some local urgent care centers, we are on most major insurance plans and will file the claim with your insurance company. We do not accept Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federally funded programs.

No appointment is necessary. All children are seen on a walk-in basis in the order they arrive. Exceptions will be made for critically sick or injured children who will be seen immediately.

We are open on weekdays from 4:30 pm to 11 pm, and on weekends from noon to 8pm. Hours may be adjusted around Holidays so check our website for details.

Acute Kids is less expensive, more efficient, and more fun. Your total bill and copay are typically one third the cost of an emergency room visit. Turn around times at Acute Kids are 3-4 times faster than an average emergency room visit. An average visit at Acute Kids is about 30 minutes. In addition, most local emergency rooms do not have pediatricians available to examine your child.

Acute Kids is designed to meet the needs of children. Our doctors, staff, equipment and rooms are designed for kids, not adults. Most urgent care centers are designed to meet the needs of adults. In addition, many local urgent care centers are charging emergency room charges and facility fees, typically 3-4 times the fees charged by Acute Kids.

At the time of service, you will be charged your urgent care copay (if you have one) or your office visit copay. The remainder of the charges are submitted to your insurance. We will not bill your service as an emergency room visit.

We provide a full range of pediatric services including physical exams, x-rays, lab work, IV fluids, fracture care, laceration care (stitches, skin glue or staples), antibiotic injections, tetanus updates and breathing treatments. We can also remove foreign bodies from the nose, ears or skin. We do not provide well child checks or routine immunizations.

A summary of the evaluation, diagnosis and care provided is faxed to your pediatrician's office immediately after your visit. If your child's condition requires a call to the pediatrician for consultation or follow up, then we will call while your child is in the office.

Acute Kids will call your physician and arrange for your child to be admitted to the hospital chosen by you and your pediatrician. Most children go to the hospital by private vehicle, but we can arrange ambulance transport if necessary. Depending on your child's condition and the pediatrician's management, you may be directed to the hospital emergency room or directly to the floor for admission.

Because we are an urgent care facility, no referral is necessary to be seen in the clinic.

Yes, we are an extension of pediatric services during the evenings and weekends, when most offices are closed.

You should always go to the emergency room if instructed to do so by your primary physician. Some problems such as ingestions, severe trauma, fever in the first 8 weeks of life, or possible meningitis are better handled in an emergency room. Otherwise, Acute Kids will save you time and money compared to an emergency room visit.

No, we do not. Online registration takes on average 7-10 minutes to complete and requires you to fill in all of the insurance information yourself. Our form takes less than 2 minutes to complete and we will complete the insurance information for you while your child is being treated.

No, we do not. These are services performed by your primary care physician, and Acute Kids strongly believes that every child should have a primary care physician. If you do not have a primary care physician in the area, we can provide a list of local physicians, or you can find one on the local Pediatricians page of our web site.

Almost all kids are seen by a pediatrician with less than a 15 minute wait. During peak hours on the weekend or during flu season, wait times will increase, but most kids are still seen within 30-45 minutes of arrival.

The average visit at Acute Kids takes about 30 minutes from arrival to walking out the door. Visits take a little longer during peak hours, or if tests and x-rays are necessary, but most children are in the office for less than an hour.

We will fax the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice prior to your leaving the clinic. We have all of the local 24 hour pharmacies on speed dial to allow you to pick up your medicine on the way home.

We see newborns up to 18 years of age.

At Acute Kids, we have designed our system to see your child when your child needs to be seen. We do not dedicate resources to improve your waiting experience, we dedicate resources to taking care of your child immediately.
