Mission Statement: To provide high quality, efficient and affordable urgent care for children.

In 2003, Acute Kids became the first urgent care facility in the Dallas area dedicated specifically to the needs of children. Unique among local urgent care centers, we see only pediatric patients, we are staffed exclusively by pediatricians, we are open evenings and weekends, and we work with local pediatricians instead of competing with them. Customer service, efficiency, and comfort of the child and family are all priorities in our system.

The results have been gratifying. Over one hundred thousand children have been seen since we opened with an average door-to-door time of under 30 minutes. Wait times to see a physician have rarely passed 30 minutes, and customer satisfaction is over 98%. Due to demand from parents and pediatricians, additional clinics were opened in Plano in 2005, McKinney in 2006, Flower Mound in 2007, and Allen in 2008.

Acute Kids is honored to have been recognized by numerous entities in the last two years. In 2007 and 2008, Acute Kids was listed in the Comerica Collin 60 as one of the fastest growing companies in Collin County. In 2007, Acute Kids won the Celebration of Enterprise Award sponsored by Inside Collin County Business and the Best of Frisco, sponsored by Frisco Style Magazine. The Celebration of Enterprise honors successful companies that have made a significant contribution to the community of Collin County. In 2008, Acute Kids was named one of the Best Places to Work in Dallas by the Dallas Business Journal. Also in 2008, one of our nurses, Christie Hutchinson, was named a Health Care Hero by the Dallas Business Journal for her work with children through Acute Kids.

Acute Kids has established a new standard for pediatric urgent care in the Dallas area. Every patient encounter is a chance for us to display our efficiency and high customer service standards. We currently have 18 physicians and 72 staff dedicated to caring for your child. Listed below are a few of the key personnel who help make Acute Kids possible.

Gary Gerlacher, MD, FAAP: Dr. Gerlacher is one of the original founders of Acute Kids, and has been a Medical Director with the company since 2003. Dr. Gerlacher trained at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, and is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Kerry Johnson, MD, FAAP, FACEP: Dr. Johnson is one of the original founders of Acute Kids and has been a Medical Director with the company since 2003. He performed his medical training through the army and retired a Lt. Colonel. Dr. Johnson is Board Certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
Christie Hutchinson, RN: Christie has been with Acute Kids since it’s opening in 2003. As Director of Nursing Operations, she oversees all personnel decisions and quality control issues with the clinics. She has been a nurse since 2001 with all of her training in emergency medicine and pediatrics. Christie was honored as a Health Care Hero by the Dallas Business Journal in 2008.
Sherry Stultz: Sherry has been with Acute Kids since 2004. As Office Manager, she oversees daily operations for all of the clinics. She has been a billing and coding specialist for 20 years and handles all billing and coding issues for the clinics.
